Day 1 Moshi to Lake Challa | 55km

Tucked away just 55 km from Moshi on the Tanzania-Kenya border, Lake Challa is a secluded crater lake offering a peaceful escape into nature. With its emerald waters, breathtaking views, and serene surroundings, it’s the ideal retreat for those looking to disconnect and embrace the wild beauty of East Africa. Whether you’re hiking, kayaking across the border, or simply soaking in the views, Lake Challa delivers a truly memorable experience.

Your day begins with a pick-up from your accommodation, followed by a scenic bike ride to Lake Challa Safari Camp. A support vehicle, complete with a driver and cook, accompanies you throughout the ride. The journey takes you through charming villages like Mabogini, Kahe, Miwaleni, Hilili, and Challa, offering glimpses into local life. After about 25 km, pause for a refreshing fruit break, then continue another 10 km to enjoy a hearty bush lunch under the open sky.

On arrival, you’ll be welcomed into a private game reserve that overlooks the crater rim.
