Over the following days, you’ll hike through diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to alpine deserts, before reaching the icy glaciers of Kilimanjaro’s summit. Day-to-Day Activities
Day 1 (26th Dec 2025): Arrival in Moshi
You’ll be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. After settling in, enjoy a briefing with your guide who will check your gear and prepare you for the trek.
Overnight: Hotel in Moshi.
Day 2 (27th Dec 2025): Moshi – Machame Gate – Machame Camp (3,010m)
After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration. Begin trekking through lush rainforest with chances to spot monkeys and tropical birds. The trail ascends steadily until you reach Machame Camp.
Overnight: Machame Camp.
Day 3 (28th Dec 2025): Machame Camp – Shira Camp (3,845m)
Today’s trek takes you out of the rainforest into moorland, with stunning views of Kibo Peak. You’ll pass giant heather and volcanic rock formations before reaching Shira Camp on the Shira Plateau.
Overnight: Shira Camp.
Day 4 (29th Dec 2025): Shira Camp – Lava Tower (4,630m) – Barranco Camp (3,960m)
A challenging but rewarding day. You’ll trek up to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. The descent provides an excellent opportunity for your body to adjust to altitude.
Overnight: Barranco Camp.
Day 5 (30th Dec 2025): Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (3,995m)
Begin with the thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall, followed by undulating trails through valleys and ridges. Arrive at Karanga Camp in the afternoon. This short day aids acclimatization.
Overnight: Karanga Camp.
Day 6 (31st Dec 2025): Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,673m)
After breakfast, you’ll hike gradually to Barafu Camp, the base for your summit attempt. Rest, hydrate, and enjoy an early dinner as you prepare for your midnight ascent.
Overnight: Barafu Camp.
Day 7 (1st Jan 2026 – New Year’s Summit): Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)
Wake up around midnight for the summit push. Trek under the stars, reaching Stella Point at dawn and Uhuru Peak just as the sun rises—welcoming 2026 at the top of Africa! After photos and celebration, descend to Mweka Camp for overnight rest.
Overnight: Mweka Camp.
Day 8 (2nd Jan 2026): Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
Continue descending through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. Transfer to Moshi for a hot shower and relaxation.
Overnight: Hotel in Moshi.
Day 9 (3rd Jan 2026): Departure
Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your unforgettable New Year Kilimanjaro adventure.
