Day 1 Moshi to Lake Chala

Your adventure begins as your friendly guide picks you up from your accommodation with a delicious packed lunch in hand. Settle into the comfort of your safari vehicle and enjoy the scenic drive through Moshi’s vibrant streets and into the open road en route to Lake Chala Safari Camp—a private nature reserve with breathtaking views over the stunning crater lake.

Upon arrival, you’ll be guided down a lush, green trail that leads to the lake’s sparkling blue waters. The descent can be rocky, so don’t forget your sturdy shoes. Lake Chala is a hiker’s paradise and a haven for birdwatchers. As you explore the area, keep an eye out for local wildlife including baboons, vervet monkeys, and the elusive dik-dik and kudu. During certain times of year, elephants can also be seen at a distant waterhole.

After exploring the walking trails and soaking in the serene landscape, relax by the lakeside and enjoy the calming sounds of nature. If you're up for more adventure, hop into a kayak and paddle across the clear waters while being serenaded by birdsong.

Before heading back to Moshi, stop at the camp’s bar for a refreshing drink and a light snack. For those who choose to extend their stay, an overnight camping experience under a starry African sky awaits. Otherwise, your guide will drive you back to Moshi, giving you time to reflect on a peaceful day well spent in nature’s embrace.
